Overview
Fordewind is a specialist IoT engineering and software development company founded in 2013 by Volodymyr and Oleksandr, graduates of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Ukraine.
Headquartered in Kyiv, Fordewind also has offices in New York, Vancouver, Warsaw, and Tallinn. The company has built its expertise around a clear focus on IoT and connected systems, rather than broad general purpose software development.
The name “Fordewind” comes from the Dutch maritime term “voor de wind,” meaning “before the wind” or “downwind.” It reflects the company’s idea of moving in the right direction while adapting to changing conditions.
Fordewind’s first major client was ZF, the German automotive parts manufacturer, which helped establish its early expertise in automotive IoT.
Today, the company provides IoT mobile app development, IoT cloud development, and IoT embedded systems services, including firmware, BLE, and Matter protocol development.
Fordewind serves clients across Automotive, Smart Home, Smart Hospitality, Healthcare, Industry 4.0, Agriculture, and Renewable Energy.
The company also operates a dedicated US entity, Fordewind U.S., which includes a Healthcare Solutions division and the EHR CyberSecure product for healthcare data security.
